You know they’re lying to your kids when history books don’t tell what God has done.
You want a History curriculum that teaches your children the truth.
Well, duh…what parent doesn’t? Who’s going to hand their child a history book and say, “This book is full of historical fairy tales. Read and be deceived?” Many conservative Christian parents screen their kids’ history books to make sure they’re “facts-based” and not full of “revisionist history.”
But what if “historical revisionism” goes way deeper than whether or not the Mayflower Pilgrims were godly settlers looking for religious freedom or greedy, thieving colonizers trying to take advantage of the Native Americans?
What if the most important story of history was purposely scrubbed from the textbooks?
What if revisionist historians are deceiving your kids without you realizing it? It’s happening.
Any historian who ONLY tells the story of the rise and fall of nations WITHOUT showing how God is building His advancing His kingdom through every detail of history is teaching your kids a half-truth. They’re omitting the most important facts.
Whether they mean to or not, they’re effectively lying to your kids.
But why would any historian want to spread a false narrative of history?
How the battle to scrub God from History began…
God starts His narrative of History in Genesis 1:1 with “In the beginning God…” (…right where you’d expect Him to start.)
But you can’t get past Genesis 3:1 without a rewrite of history: “Has God indeed said…?” Satan is the original “historical revisionist.” His first recorded act was to tell Adam and Eve a false narrative about God and deceive them into sin (eating the forbidden fruit).
And that’s how the battle to control history began.
Satan’s goal ever since the garden has been to falsify history and deceive mankind. He wants to twist or omit the facts so that man cannot see the glory of God and believe in Christ for salvation from sin. Satan hates God. He hates your kids, and he wants to sponge the memory of God out of their minds. A God-devoid narrative of history is simply one of the tools in his toolbox.
For example…
John Dewey, a signer of the 1933 Humanist Manifesto and one of the fathers of modern education, believed “God is a faded piece of metaphysical goods.” (The Influence of Darwin on Philosophy) Dewey hated God. His dream was to create a model of education that programmed children to become compliant citizens in a utopian society where God did not exist, and man determined his own destiny. So Dewey and those he influenced labored to strip God and His memory out of all aspects of education…including History.
What types of stories did the “Dewey-ites” try to erase from history?
They left these (and other facts) out of the history books…
Fact #1
Every major advance of freedom since the dawn of time has ONLY come after the gospel came first and men returned to God and His Word.
- The 1776 American Revolution and the freedom that followed have impacted the entire world. But this incredible advance for liberty was only made possible by the revival fires of the Great Awakening during the 1730s and 1740s. The preaching of men like George Whitfield, Jonathan Edwards, and Samuel Rutherford laid the foundations the American founding fathers built upon.
- In contrast, during the French Revolution a few years later (1789), the people of France removed one godless tyrant (King Louis XVI) only to set up another (Napoleon Bonaparte). God had visited France, and they rejected Him. France had resisted the gospel and persecuted God’s people, such as the Huguenots, for hundreds of years. So with no biblical foundation to build upon, France sunk deeper into bondage and centralized government.
Lasting freedom can only come after the gospel of Jesus Christ has come first. But most American history books will only tell you about the American Revolution, not how God made it possible through the Great Awakening.
Fact #2
You know the basic history of Pearl Harbor and World War II, right? But do you know what became of Lieutenant Colonel Mitsuo Fuchida, the Japanese pilot who led the Pearl Harbor attack? Did you know that God brought him to faith in Christ and turned him into one of Japan’s most famous gospel evangelists?
Fact #3
Or how about Nathan Bedford Forest? You may recognize him as a villain of the American Civil War who fought in the Confederate army. After the South surrendered, Forest became the original grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). But have you heard how God brought him to repentance and faith in Christ in the lobby of a bank? The blood of Christ transformed Forest and moved him to publicly apologize to the African American community he had wronged.
These are some of the great facts of history. But how many people know about them? But how many people know about them? This “backstory of history” is of no interest to secular historians who follow the philosophies of Dewey. And so they omit them from the History books. But as believers, what better stories can we tell our children than how the Prince of Peace brings reconciliation out of conflict?
Satan can’t stop God from writing History. He can’t prevent God’s great acts of love, mercy, and justice from coming to pass. His attempts to undermine the power of the gospel always fail. So he does his best to rewrite history and scrub out the facts about God and His wondrous works.
And the cost is high…
What teaching Satan’s revisionist version of History costs the kids:
Look around the Western world, and you’ll see what happens when a culture accepts the Satanic narrative and expunges God from its History books:
- Instead of believing “In the beginning God created…” we teach “In the beginning, Nothing exploded.” We’ve lost our basis of reality and morals by rejecting the Creator. Murdering the unborn, gender dysphoria, and economic insanity are some of the deadly fruits.
- Children leave the church in droves because they’ve accepted the Sacred-Secular Dichotomy: “God” is something created by organized religion and is irrelevant to the past, present, or future.
- Many young adults feel purposeless. They don’t have a clear vision for their life because they can’t see themselves as players in God’s grand story of history.
- Without a God-centered view of history, men and women can’t discern the times they live in. They can’t see what is causing our culture’s moral, social, and economic collapse. And so they are swept along with the masses.
- A Godless view of history always ends in despair. If God’s providential hand is not leading history, then history is nothing more than “the victors writing the history books.” History is a “fable agreed upon.” (Napoleon) There is no ultimate meaning to life. There is no God to conquer all the evil and pain in the world. So “Let us eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die!”
This is why in Psalm 78:4-9 God commands parents to teach their children the story of His hand in history:
“We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done…which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children…
- …that the generation to come might know them
- …that they may arise and declare them to their children
- …that they may set their hope in God
- …and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments
- …and may not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set its heart aright…the children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.”
Do you want your kids to pass on a genuine faith in Christ to their children?
Do you want them to have hope for the future?
Do you want them to have courage in difficult circumstances, to do what’s right no matter the cost?
Do you want to protect them from the mistakes of the past: forgetting God, disobeying His commandments, and experiencing the wages of sin…death?
Then you owe it to God and your kids to teach them the story of…
- What God has done…
- What became of the world He created…
- …and how Christ has taken over the world through the gospel.
The good news is…
You can teach your kids the WHOLE story of History and God’s wonderful works even if you’re not a “history buff” and have little-to-no time for research.
Attempting to add the missing stories of God’s providence and the advance of Christ’s kingdom back into History class for your kids can be overwhelming. You’re a busy parent. You don’t have the time or expertise to run down every historical bunny trail.
At Generations, we’re sick and tired of History books that leave the most important stories of the past untold. So we produced our own 1st-12th grade God-centered History curriculum to tell the WHOLE story of the past.

Students learn about much more than the rise and fall of nations. They see God’s hand guiding every period of history for His glory.
- We trace the history of the kingdom of God and show how “stone cut without hands” (the kingdom of Jesus Christ) has and is “breaking in pieces and consuming all other kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.” (Daniel 2:44)
- Kids discover God working in the “back stories” of history (like He did with Lieutenant Colonel Mitsuo Fuchida).
- Students get to read the faith-inspiring stories of Christian martyrs, missionaries, explorers, statesmen, inventors, and ordinary men and women who God used to do great things for His glory.
- God’s Word and a biblical worldview are “baked in” from beginning to end. Students learn how to evaluate every historical figure and event in the light of God’s Word and discern good from evil.
If you’ve ever felt something was missing from History studies for you and your kids…
If you’ve been buying History course after History course, looking for a genuinely God-centered view of history, not just a Christianized version of a secular historical narrative…
…then order one of our 1st-12th grade God-centered History courses.
You shouldn’t have to choose between making your children’s education academically robust or unapologetically God-centered.
How to tell if the Generations History Curriculum is what you’re looking for
You may be wondering if the Generations History curriculum will work for you and your kids. If you can meet the 7 qualifications below, you won’t be disappointed with our curriculum:
- Do you want to transform history studies from boring names and dates to a thrilling “can’t-put-the-book-down” adventure as your kids see the providential hand of God guiding every event of history?
- Do you want a history curriculum that allows you to teach a single student, multiple students of different ages, or that students can “self-study?”
- Do you want to educate your kids against the false narratives and social agendas promoted in modern history texts and secular news media?
- Do you want to help your kids clarify their vision for life and make wise decisions by seeing their life as a subplot in God’s big story? (Your kids will only be able to lead themselves, their families, and their communities in a good direction if they understand the history of how/why Western culture has sunk so low.)
- Do you want to help your kids avoid the mistakes of the past by showing them the deadly consequences of following a godless worldview?
- Do you want to prepare your children to face difficult times with faith and courage by remembering the stories of heroes from the past who trusted God and experienced Him walking through the fire with them?
- Do you want to watch your kids grow in hope and godly optimism even while Western cultures crumble? (The kingdoms of men rise and fall. But Christ is setting up His kingdom through the gospel that can never be destroyed. We tell them the story in our History courses.)
If you’ve been nodding, “Yes,” you won’t be disappointed with our curriculum.
PROOF that our History curriculum works…
“When this book arrived in the mail, our son opened it immediately and couldn’t put it down! In no time at all, he was captivated by the pictures, and started reading excerpts from the book to us…This book is far more interesting, accurate, and complete than any other American history book, because it is written with a Christian worldview showing how God has been involved in our country’s history!” – Joe and Michelle K. (America In God’s Providence)
“My son does not like to spend hours on school. He is a very hands on kid at 14 years old and would rather be put working on his welding or knife making projects then doing school. However, he loves to read this book. He has learned so much about American history from It and the best part is it is Christ centered!” – Karryn M. (America Faith)
“After trying a number of curriculums, our children have asked us to stick with Generations. This was such a great opportunity to delve into the history of a continent, as well as the people and events God has used to bring people to Himself and to show His mercy and grace. We loved the chance to focus also on missionaries, and learn relevant geography to what we were reading. Thank you for the prayer points, Scriptures and pictures incorporated throughout as well. Praise be to God for how He orchestrates His plans and brings forth His glory throughout all time!” – Amy (Taking Asia for Jesus)
“Taking Africa for Jesus is so user friendly! The book cover draws you right in. The inside has much better-than-average photographs and maps – I love the maps! The font size is large enough to keep a 5th grader going. It’s easy to get bogged-down on pages full of smaller font at that age. The workbook is great, too. I especially love the way a schedule is provided to pace yourself through a school year. Oh yeah, and there is an answer key, complete with maps! Nobody skimped on the production of this set – it’s wonderful!” – Jessica B. (Taking Africa for Jesus)
Are these people any different than you?
We don’t think so. They’re just honest people who were so thrilled by their experience with the Generations History curriculum that they’re willing to sign their names to a testimonial.
