Homeschooled himself in the 1960’s and 70’s, Kevin Swanson and his wife, Brenda, are now homeschooling parents of five and grandparents of six. Kevin has 43 years of experience in the homeschooling movement and serves as the Director of Generations – a ministry he founded to strengthen homeschool families around the country. He’s written 30-40 books on homeschool vision and resources, spoken at homeschool conferences for over 30 years, and hosted a daily radio program reaching tens of thousands of homeschooling families. As a father who wants to leave a godly heritage for his own five children, Kevin’s passion is to strengthen and encourage the homeschooling movement all over the world, and to cast a vision for generations to come.

How do you know if your children have been with Jesus? It was clear that those men who had been discipled by Jesus had been with Him.  But how would you know?  The discipleship program of Jesus is way different than that provided by the world. Jesus trains in faith, prayer, and the Word.

Build your children’s education on the Rock. But, if we boil down everything God says about education in Deut. 6:7, Eph. 6:4, Prov. 1:7, Col. 1:18, Luke 6:40, and James 1:22, what are the most basic principles of a good education for your children? What are the four pillars upon which to build something firm and strong for the Level 6 Hurricanes blowing across the Post-modern, Post-Christian world?  Kevin Swanson will present on these pillars: Family Discipleship, Biblical Worldview, Good Christian Teachers and Books, and Worship and Life Application.

What are the factors that matter most in the homeschool?  What are the principles that really make it work?  This is a basic introductory talk about homeschooling, based on Kevin’s 45 years of experience in the movement. This is based on Kevin Swanson’s book, “Upgrade, the Ten Secrets to the Best Education for Your Child.”

Kevin’s parents graduated six children from their homeschool, and now, Kevin and Brenda Swanson have just about graduated their five children as well.  We will take a careful look at the word “success” and touch on our children’s calling and purpose in life.  We clear the deck, and present basic goals for that preparation for life each of our children will need.  We will offer two tracks — the entrepreneurial track and the college track — and offer to parents and young people an exciting array of options and ideas that will accommodate their children’s particular needs.  Special mention will be made of the power of mentorship.

Young people are less prepared for life, family, and work than they ever have been.  The situation could not be more dire.  Yet, the revival of mentorship and discipleship has been a saving grace for the day.  There is nothing better for spiritual preparation and economic preparation for the marketplace.  Kevin Swanson will speak of leveraging a work opportunity into a mentorship.  He will speak from 12 years of experience with mentoring, and what makes it so successful.

More than ever, young people are grappling for purpose and direction in life.  Drawing from Proverbs 3:5-6, Kevin Swanson explains how a young person can live a purposeful life, and find the path that God has laid out.

There is no story more thrilling in all of history than what Jesus Christ has done through 2,000 years of missionary work. The world will never be the same.  When studying world history, our children will get the wrong perspective entirely if they fail to see the amazing work accomplished around the globe by the Gospel. Kevin Swanson obtained his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, but he would be the first to tell you he didn’t like science very much (as taught in secular college).  Here, he expresses his passion to making mathematics and science meaningful to our children by bringing it back into God-centered view.  Why do we study science?  And how can we make it 10,000 times more thrilling for our children, than the average teacher in the universities? It can be done!

Broken families, broken relationships, and broken lives is pretty much status quo now.  And, we’ have never been so sure that Jesus Christ can redeem this.  We can rebuild the walls by the grace of God, by tears, prayer, and faith.  The Christian family will be a bright beacon to the world around us as we fully experience the Gospel and realize God’s vision for the family again.

What is the balance of family working, family studying, family worshiping, and family playing together? The world hardly has a concept of the family at all, and everything is usually out of balance. But, what are God’s priorities in family life, and how do we find true life and true joy in family life?

As the author of the groundbreaking book, “Apostate — the Men Who Destroyed the Christian West,” Kevin Swanson details the ideas, the philosophers, the classical authors, and the popular cultural icons that made the post-modern man what he is. Many Christian kids growing up in Christian homes are destroyed by philosophies and vain deceit, because their parents did not understand the times.  This is a critical presentation for anybody who wants to know how we got to where we are today, and how modern man thinks.

Teaching literature is not for the faint of heart, or for those who are easily taken by bad worldviews. Many of our homeschooled children like to read and they may become some of the next great leaders, unless they are corrupted by the wrong worldviews (which happens more often than not). As the developer of the Christian Curriculum Project, Kevin Swanson invites parents and students to discernment on both the content and method of the great literary work.

Nobody influenced the world more than Charles Darwin.  Kevin Swanson unpacks the Darwinian theory and its incredible impact on law, psychology, church, and politics.

Kevin Swanson challenges the theory of naturalistic evolution with the internal contradictions, the mathematical impossibilities, the lack of evidence, and the biblical record.  He details how humanist, godless science is the undoing of science itself.

As one who is a father of a son, and a mentor of 12 other young men over the last 12 years, Kevin Swanson speaks on the unique challenges of raising sons and introducing them to manhood. He will address what God wants for our boys, as revealed in His Word.

How does a family interact with popular culture?   Popular culture is everywhere around us. It influences the peer groups, and sets the worldview and the cultural perspectives of almost everybody today.  Very few have the wisdom and the strength to swim against the stream. So, how does a family make its cultural choices?  What part should entertainment play in the home?  What are the major biblical principles that should govern our discernment of music, movies, tattoos, dress, etc.?

Kevin Swanson has followed popular culture for thirty years, and continually presents biblical analyses on a daily radio program.  So, what is wrong with the movies?  What is wrong with popular and country music?  This session covers the good, the bad, and the ugly, and teach a careful discernment on all popular culture.  We end with a short recommendation on healthy family culture.

There is a great deal of migration going on right now, even as the millennials are leaving the church in droves.  The angst is rising.  Some find the home church better than the mega church experience?  Some are looking for high church, and some low church?  Is shifting churches really going to buy you all that much?  Here is a thoughtful consideration on choosing churches.  We define the church, and give the marks of a healthy body.

Character training is a special focus for every parent.  It’s every day, all day.  But, it can be done badly. Always careful not to present a one-size-fits-all treatment of this subject, Kevin Swanson lists the two ditches on either side of the road, and encourages parents to stick to biblical principle.  Above all, our training will remind ourselves and our children every day how much we need Jesus.

Or, should we just pretend things are not as bad as they seem?

Upholding the biblical alternative to these extremes, this session will equip parents to help their children define a godly relationship to culture by asking five critical questions: “Who is God?” “Who am I?” “What has God done?” “What does He require?” and “Why?” Or to put it another way, “What’s the difference between Miley Cyrus, Jesus and Me?”

Many parents begin the Homeschool Journey motivated by a strong desire to nurture deep and enduring relationships with their children. Over time, they realize that winning and keeping their children’s hearts requires something more than simply schooling them at home…especially during the teenage years.

But how do you keep your child’s heart without controlling it? How do you pass on your deepest convictions while at the same time avoiding the traps of legalism on the one hand, and permissiveness on the other? Hebrews 11:6 teaches that those who come to God must believe, first that HE IS and second, that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. To believe that “He is” is not merely to believe that God exists. Rather it is to believe that He is who He reveals Himself to be.
