Is Jesus Really
“The Reason for the Season?”

According to the National Retail Federation, 2017 saw $687.9 billion in holiday spending and 2018 is projected at $717.5-$720.9 billion.

Obviously, the holidays are a BIG DEAL. Just follow the dollars. But Jesus…? Between Halloween and a commercialized Christmas, He doesn’t get much attention does He?

Holiday Spending

Stop for a Minute

Zoom out in your mind’s eye and take a look at the “anthill” of humanity. Watch the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping and preparations: new electronics purchased, boxes upon boxes of decorations, tons of special foods, SUGAR!, holiday parties, holiday fights, holiday loneliness…the story is the same story that’s been happening for years.

Is there any point to all this? Or are we just highly evolved “ants” trying pack as much enjoyment as possible into a meaningless life?

Don’t miss the point!

Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

Paul puts it this way in Colossians 1:17-18: “And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence” (Preeminence = the first place)

What would happen if we actually believed that Christ came “to give us life and give it more abundantly?”

What if you could exchange the “all-about-me” holiday frenzy of our culture for a truly joy-full, Jesus-first celebration?!

The “anthill,” Mr. Scrooge, or Jesus: which will it be?

Your family will spend your holiday season in one of 3 different ways:

1
The “Anthill”
You could join the it’s-all-about-me frenzy with the rest of the culture.

2
Mr. Scrooge
You could reject the frenzy and do nothing. Opt out. Not follow the crowd. (That’s what any good conservative would do, right?)

3
Jesus
Or you could give Jesus the first place
whether you celebrate Christmas or not and experience a “more abundant” celebration of life in Him!

“Giving Jesus the ‘first place’ sounds great but…”

But what does that actually mean for you and your family tomorrow, right? If you’re not sure or if you needs some fresh encouragement join us for our 2018 “Jesus First” series. This might just be “review” for you. Or this might help your family “turn a corner” in your relationship with Christ and each other. Who knows?

There’s only one way to find out…
