Proverbs 19:28 An ungodly witness scorns judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity. There are men in this world who will take nothing seriously because they will not take God seriously. As evidence that they refuse to fear God, they see little importance in anything they do in their lives. Eventually, these [...]

Proverbs 19:26 He that wastes his father, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame, and brings reproach. Sadly, there are parents who are afraid of their sons. Chances are that the rebellion began when he was nine years old. His rebellion was ten times worse in his tenth year, and [...]

Proverbs 19:24 A slothful man hides his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. The sluggard is the man who is caught in the horrible condition of perpetual slothfulness. He is held down by velvet chains in a sea of cushions, and it has become [...]

Proverbs 19:22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. Above all things, the most commendable quality in a human being is kindness—or undying, loyal love for others. Proverbs 19:13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping. We turn to the Bible for our ethical perspectives in life, which means that the Bible defines what is sinful and what is evil. What is evil is not necessarily sinful. For example, [...]

Proverbs 19:11 The discretion of a man defers his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. Somebody once said that the last man to get angry in an argument wins. The assumption here is that any form of anger or indignation is always inappropriate, and the person who is not [...]

Proverbs 19:8 He that gets wisdom loves his own soul. He that keeps understanding shall find good.  It is amazing how quickly young men are drawn into the company of fools! They sit at the feet of “wise” fools in the university, impressed by their neat rhetorical devices and their ability to turn a [...]

Proverbs 19:15 Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. When a young man is controlled by slothfulness, it is as if he has fallen under a spell. In our day, this slothfulness is characterized by the young teen who is addicted to computer games. When he is away [...]
